Bethany, Inc. is a small nonprofit organization that needs volunteers in many different capacities to help fulfill its mission. There are several types of volunteer opportunities available and the level of commitment required varies for each opportunity. Staff is available to talk to groups or individuals about the many volunteer opportunities there are for potential volunteers looking for ways to have an impact on the community.
Family Mentor Volunteer Program
The Family Mentor Program uses trained volunteers as mentors who give of their time and themselves to help families in crisis. The Family Mentor Program works by using a one-on-one, nontraditional approach in which every family member, not just a single individual, gets involved. Family Mentors listen, assist and encourage people facing overwhelming problems. Each volunteer functions as a sounding board, a tutor, a guide, an inspiration, and a liaison to available resources for the family he or she is helping. They learn to cope with the stresses and crises of life, build self-sufficiency, and become functional, productive members of the community. The mentor plays a crucial role in this process.
Youth Mentor Volunteer Program
The Youth Mentor Volunteer Program provides a mentor for the young people residing in the Good Hope House. The program provides one-on-one support for the youth of Bethany, Inc. Mentors will be matched with a young person to provide them with support and encouragement through an ongoing relationship.
Event/Fundraising Volunteer Program
Bethany, Inc. needs assistance planning events and conducting fundraising activities throughout the year. This program is looking to recruit individuals with an interest and experience in event planning. These events are a vital source of Bethany’s funds and the assistance of volunteers is extremely valuable.
Women Leader Volunteer Program
The Women’s Leadership program is a mentoring program that focuses on promoting the leadership abilities of the women of Bethany. Bethany Women who would like to participate are paired with a volunteer to work on exploring how women can best reach their leadership potential.
Communication Volunteer Program
Bethany needs volunteers to help with developing its communication pieces. This includes assisting with Bethany’s website, publicity for events, press releases, and developing press kits.
Special Events
Bethany participates in special events every year, like the Annual Fannie Mae Walkathon and the United Way Combined Federal Campaign to help to raise funds and bring awareness and knowledge about the homelessness. |
